When Nixon met the Cabinet,

And joined " a friend" to dine.

At Chequers, the Prime Minister,

Was Harold Wilson then;

The phrase "special relationship"

Was quoted by both men,

I remember, I remember, The salmon, and stuffed squid,

That Bill and Hill and Cherie ate

(Tony’s bill : 200 quid).

And Bill spoke to the Cabinet,

In warm and friendly tones

Of that special relationship,

( But not of Paula Jones)

I remember, I remember

The day Nixon resigned,

Though Wilson held on two more years

Please bear all this in mind.
