Most were written after the tidal wave took hold. Some were written ahead of the wave. One such that we wrote, that we will are more than happy to send on to an] email request, is called, "The Rise and Fall of the Trading Exchange." It was first published late in 1999. Most industry analysts have said the same stuff since, or came to the same conclusion but based their reasoning on several other features or concerns. We followed up in late 2000 with another paper called, "The Dating Game: Searching for Liquidity in the New Economy" that further outlined, reasonably correctly, what public net markets would have to do to "survive". If anyone would like a copy of either or both, drop me an email. There have been better papers I think from D&T recently called, "Collaborative Commerce: Going Private to get Results" that give a better post-apocalypse view; and give more of a proof-positive view of the future. PS I am not sure that the last point, about being supported by large corporations, has much to do with success or failure in most cases. If you mean a monopolist, then perhaps it does. But many large beasts were slain by their own imagination. The bigger they are, the harder they....er...fall....
